Kepolisian New York menyatakan via Twitter bahwa tidak ada serangan penembakan.

Wali Kota New York City, Bill de Blasio juga melalui untuk memberi tahu warga New York bahwa tempat itu aman.

"Times Square aman, tetapi kepanikan dan ketakutan yang dirasakan orang-orang malam ini terlalu nyata," tulisnya. "Tidak ada yang harus hidup dalam ketakutan terus-menerus akan kekerasan senjata. TIDAK ADA."
