Sejumlah Pesan Penghormatan dari Kolega Ahmad Yani Usai Gugur dalam Peristiwa G30S PKI

Lalu ada wakil presiden ke-38 Amerika Serikat (AS) Hubert Humphrey Jr yang juga berkirim surat yang tertanggal setahun sebelum PM Malaysia dalam bahasa Inggris.

Tepatnya dalam surat tertanggal 20 November 1967, kepada putra-putri Jenderal Yani, yakni Amelia A Yani, Elina, Juni (Yuni A Yani), Untung Mufreini, dan Irawan Sura Eddy:

“Dear Amelia, Elina, Nani, Juni, Untung, and Eddy:

I cannot tell you how moved I was to recieve your note of welcome. Thank you for your kind wishes to my family and to the American people.

It was an honor for me to be able to pay a small tribute to your father and to the others who fell with him. I know what there is no way in which I or anyone else can make up the loss which you have suffered, but I hope that you will throughout your lives take pride in fact that your father gave his life in the defense of his country’s independence and your own and many other people’s freedom. It was cause to which he had devoted his whole life and one which in a very profound way he shared with many brave men from many nations. I am sure that he himself would belive that it was and is a couse well worth defending. In the short time which any of us spend on this earth there is a little that any of us can do greater importance than to devote our lives to the defense of human freedom and the building of a better world for all people. Always remember that it was in this cause that your father gave his life, and be proud of him.
